Effect of the SiO2/Al2O3 ratio on the synthesis of Na-x zeolite from Mae Moh fly ash

Abstract: In this study, a Na-x zeolite was synthesized by using metakaolin from Narathiwat kaolinite, amorphous silica from rice husk ash, and high CaO fly ash from the Mae Moh electrical plant by using the alkaline fusion method. The mixture of fly ash, amorphous silica and metakaolin was fused in NaOH followed by incubation at 70°C for 24 h. An amorphous silica from rice husk ash and metakaolin were added to high CaO fly ash to increase the SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 ratio of fusion materials. The fused mixtures of high CaO fly… Show more

“… 32 Furthermore, Al–O–Si symmetrical vibrations shifted from 772 cm –1 and appeared more pronounced at 699 cm –1 for the synthesized sodalite and zeolite A. 33 The vibrational peaks were displaced to a lower wavenumber compared to coal fly ash and new peaks were formed during zeolitization.…”

“…The second component in terms of content was Al 2 O 3 , which occurred in the amount of 21.44% in sample K1 and 27.37% in K2. Measured contents of said compounds, as well as their mutual ratio, which were almost three times greater than SiO 2 to Al 2 O 3 , indicated the potential usefulness of this type of materials as a raw material for the synthesis of zeolites [44].…”
