Effect of the Fillers Contents on the Chemical, Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Polymer Composites

Abstract: Polymer composites are used in numerous applications. In spite of this fact, new developments are still under way to explore in other field of application of these materials and to tailor their properties for more extreme condition. A particular emphasis is focused on fillers content is summarized. Some steps towards the functionally graded materials are illustrated. The FT-IR spectroscopic studies revealed the information about curing of epoxy with fillers. It was observed that mechanical properties like tens… Show more

“…Composite materials are capable of covering in all means of distribution because of their heterogeneous nature. Properties of composites arise as a function of its constituent materials, their distribution, and the interaction among them and as a result an unusual combination of material properties can be obtained [1][2][3][4][5]. Fiber reinforced composites have gained much attention due to their better mechanical properties.…”

“…Much interest has focused on the development of aluminum phosphates and phosphonates in recent years. As a kind of polyphase material, organic–inorganic hybrid materials have brought to us a new research field as a result of their superior properties, such as excellent chemical resistance, good mechanical strength, low thermal conductivity at high temperature, and good thermal stability and resistance to thermal shock . While the incorporation of microscale and larger inorganic fillers into organic polymers is scientifically well explored, the decrease in size of the inorganic component into the nano dimension, and the simultaneous increase of the interfacial area, results in new extraordinary material properties which require further investigation .…”

“…nanotubes [6], silver nano particles [10]- [15], nano clay [16], Al2o3 [17], PMMA [20] to epoxy matrix believed to produce the new composites of improved thermal and mechanical properties etc. compared to the existing counter parts with relative to the cost effective fillers [21] The geometrical shape, shape of the powdered fillers has direct influence on the dimensional stability, processibility, thermal and mechanical properties of the composite [22].This may leads to the pave way to the new applications and solutions in the industries.…”
