“…Ying-li Shao et al (4) proposed a new concept of exhaust silencer using active cancellation phenomena. Deshmukh and Sharma studied the effect of radial air injection inside the combustor for suppression of thermo-acoustic instabilities (5)(6)(7). Brenda and Mark (8) used fluidic injection nozzles to inject air at the nozzle trailing edge in jets to reducing broadband shock noise.…”

“…Experiments have been carried out by Deshmukh and Sharma [3] using active methods in which micro-jets of air at different positions along the Rijke tube have been used to suppress the instability. Further, investigations have been carried out by Deshmukh and Sharma [4] to study the effects of pointed injection and diffused injection over a premixed flame on the sound pressure level. Deshmukh et al [5] have studied the effect of volume and length of the neck of a Helmholtz resonator on the suppression of thermo-acoustic instabilities and have concluded that for a longer neck length the standing wave developed inside the Rijke tube has to travel a longer distance resulting in less reduction in sound pressure level, hence shorter neck length was found to be more effective than longer neck length.…”

“…It could be of two types, namely, open loop and closed loop. Different controllers in active control methods include external acoustic dampers (loudspeakers) (Heckl, 1988), fuel modulation to the combustor (phase-shifting controller) (Heckl, 1988), secondary fuel injection (Annaswamy and Ghoniem, 2002; Hathout et al, 2000; Neumeier, 1996), and releasing air radially inside the combustor (radial air injection system) (Barooah et al, 2003; Deshmukh and Sharma, 2016, 2017a, 2017b, 2020; Marosky et al, 2016).…”
