“…This observation has been validated with detailed theoretical model calculation using GEF code which predict the fraction of asymmetric fission considering shell effects at low excitation energies quite well [30]. From one of our earlier measurement at IUAC, we have already reported the mass distribution of reaction 12 C+ 238 U forming CN 250 Cf and compared with another reaction 18 O+ 232 Th at around barrier energies [31]. A detailed re-analysis of low energy data from 12 C+ 238 U showed flat-topped non single Gaussian mass distribution in the fission of CN 250 Cf clearly demonstrating the presence of asymmetric fission arising from shell effects of fragments.…”

“…Quasifission has been shown to reduce P CN below 1 in reaction systems of heavy ions on deformed targets with charge product Z 1 Z 2 < 1,000 [34][35][36][37][38]. Values of Z 1 Z 2 are given in Table I and are much greater than 1,000, so it is expected that quasifission will moderately hinder the fusion probabilities for these reactions.…”

“…The analysis of ICF in α-particle emitting channels has been carried out using the data reduction method [4,5] with the theoretical model calculations, PACE and/or EMPIRE which do not include the contribution of ICF process. The enhancement in the measured cross section data over the theoretical evaluation may be regarded as ICF, defined as, say for…”
