Effect of feeding management of broodstock on breeding performance of bata (Labeo bata)

Abstract: Abstract:Labeo bata is one of the important minor carps in Bangladesh with great demand as good table fish. The study was conducted to observe the breeding performance at different management practices in Mafatema, Rupali, Modhumoti and Anan fish hatchery and disinfection treatments of water, eggs and fry in Jessore, Bangladesh during 10 March 2014 to 15 May 2015. An improvement in broodstock nutrition and feeding has been shown to greatly improve seed production. Protein and lipid percentage of broodstock die… Show more

“…This resulted in an increased reliance on induced breeding for obtaining quality fish seed. Shabuj et al (2016);Hossain et al (2016);Islam et al (2016);Rahman et al (2015) and Ali et al (2015) did the same research on breeding and brood stock management, their result is more or less similar with the present study. Fish fingerlings were transported by using indigenous and modern techniques.…”

“…The dings of the present study were more or less similar to Cooper (2006), who stated that water temperatures, ranged between 23°C and 29°C with a difference of 6°C. Ahmed et al (2016);Shabuj et al (2016);Rahman et al (2015); Ali et al (2016b) and Islam et al (2016) conducted similar study and results of temperature were more or less similar. Higher temperatures reduce the amount of oxygen content in the water, reducing the tank's stocking density.…”

“…Hossain et al (1999) and Kohinoor (2000) showed that dissolved oxygen concentration pond water varied from 3.8 to 6.9 mg/I, 2.04 to 5 mg/L and 3.50 to 7.50 mg/L for Indian major carps and punti, which was also more or less similar to the findings of the present study. Shabuj et al (2016); Rahman et al (2015); Ali et al (2016b); Ahmed et al (2016) and Islam et al (2016) conducted similar study and rate of dissolved oxygen level were more or less similar. In the present study, pH varied from 7.30 to 8.16 with the mean value of 7.60-1-0.17 which as also more or less similar to the findings of Cooper (2006).…”

“…When the bacterial count more than 1800x10 2 colonies ml -1 embryos and hatchlings mass mortalities were recorded. The enormous growth of bacteria on eggs shell result in accumulation of lactic acid hypoxia and death of fish eggs [27,28]. Beside excessive bacterial colonization may penetrate the egg shell or produce harmful toxic metabolites that could damage the chorion [8].…”
