Effect of different treatments and SiO2/PVDF coatings on morphology and wettability of electrospun polyamide 6 membranes

Abstract: The electrospun polyamide 6 (PA6) membranes are treated with different methods. The rough surfaces with different protuberances size and the fiber diameter are prepared by wet, dry heat, wet heat, and ethanol treatments under relaxation, and the formation mechanisms are analyzed. A relative stable structure of PA6 membrane is also prepared by ethanol treatment under tension, and its structure is as same as the untreated membrane. The dynamic water contact angles (WCAs) of the treated membranes are measured. Th… Show more

“…Sun et al 16 developed superhydrophobic polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) combined with silane modified silica (SiO 2 ) nanoparticles to obtain a water contact angle of 160 . Feng et al 17 fabricated superhydrophobic polyamide membranes by electrospinning in the first step and then coating with PVDF-SiO 2 in the second step to obtain a water contact angle above 150 . Liu et al 18 synthesized superhydrophobic polymer fibrous membranes that have application in oil-water separation and oil spill treatment and the water contact angle of porous fibrous membrane was more than 150 .…”
