Effect of chain extenders with different functionalities on the properties of single-component waterborne polyurethane ink binders

Abstract: Waterborne polyurethane (WPU) dispersions were prepared by post-chain extension and crosslinking reactions using different functional chain extenders. The influences of chain extenders type on the properties of WPUs were investigated.

“…A contact angle measuring instrument was used, and the surface free energy was calculated using the Owens-Wendt method with Formulas (2) and (3). The polar component and dispersion component of distilled water are 51.0 mJ/m 2 and 21.8 mJ/m 2 [15], respectively, and the polar component and dispersion component of ethylene glycol are 19.0 mJ/m 2 and 29.3 mJ/m 2 [16], respectively.…”
