Effect of Biowaste on the High- and Low-Temperature Rheological Properties of Asphalt Binders

Abstract: The growth of aquaculture has increased the production of oysters. However, the increased oyster shell volume has created serious environmental and recycling problems for the society. In order to study the sustainable utilization of waste oyster shells, asphalt binder of waste oyster shell powder was prepared by using modified asphalt material with waste oyster shells. The microstructure of oyster shell powder was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy experiments. The chemical composition of the asphalt bin… Show more

“…SCESPMA has better adhesion and cohesion than SPMA, indicating that the stratum corneum in the seashell is not conducive to improving the adhesion and cohesion of NA-70. The existing research on bio-based modified asphalt materials mainly focuses on its high- and low-temperature rheological properties, micro morphology and chemical composition [ 15 , 37 ], and rarely involves the adhesion and cohesion properties of seashell powder-modified asphalt. The results of this study show that the water stability of asphalt and limestone is not only related to W asw , but also has a close relationship with W aa and W as , and the above three indexes should be considered comprehensively in this study.…”

“…En el documento [74], estudiaron al asfalto Karamay con grado de penetración 70 y al bioasfalto con adición de polvo de concha de ostra al 5%, 10% y 15% en peso de asfalto, donde los puntos de reblandecimiento del asfalto puro de 50.5 °C se incrementaron en un 3.7%, 6.7% y 9.8% respectivamente.…”
