Abstract: According to the conventional Einstein relation, the diffusivity-mobility ratio of the c a r r i e r s in semiconductors is independent of impurity concentration and other externally controllable parameters excluding temperature with which it increases in a linear manner. That this is not true for degenerate semiconductors was first demonstrated by Landsberg /1/ and, hence, a modification of the Einstein relation was proposed by him for degenerate semiconductors.
