Abstract

A new edition of Forattini's "Ecologia, Epidemiologia e Sociedade" has just been published, reviewing and amplifying the first edition disclosed in 1996. On the occasion of its first publication this book had fulfilled an important gap in the epidemiological literature in our country, and was already characterized by the rigorousness that followed all Forattini's works. In the present new edition, besides the updating of its contents, three new chapters had been written, focusing climatic alterations, emerging/ reemerging infections and concepts on biological evolution of species. By its conceptual precision, comprehensiveness, and rigour this book should have a mandatory place in any good biological library.
