“…As the genera are currently defined, the present specimens are excluded from Euparyphiurn and Echinoparyphium by possession of a long uterus containing numerous eggs. In addition, Buscher (1978) defined Echinoparyphium as having dorsal collar spines in the aboral row considerably larger than those in the oral row, which is not the case in the present specimens. As currently defined and composed, Echinostoma accommodates the characteristics of the present specimens.…”

“…Allocation of the specimens to a genus within the Echinostomatinae is not straightforward, reflecting the current confusion in the taxonomy of the group. They are nearest to Euparyphium Dietz, 1909, Echinoparyphium Dietz, 1909and Echinostoma Rudolphi, 1809 and, on the basis of the generic diagnoses provided by Skrjabin (1956), Yamaguti (1971) and Buscher (1978), have been provisionally allocated to Echinostoma, although it is recognised that this might change as a result of future revisions. As the genera are currently defined, the present specimens are excluded from Euparyphiurn and Echinoparyphium by possession of a long uterus containing numerous eggs.…”

“…The systematic position of these species has been revised and discussed by several authors, such as Mendheim (1943), Bashkirova (1947), Dollfus (1953), Skrjabin & Bashkirova (1956), Buscher (1978) and Bychovskaja-Pavlovskaja (1978). These revisions have resulted in a reduction of the representative number of species within the genus.…”

“…2) Buscher (1978) propose une formule pour traduire la disposition des épines du collet des Echinoparyphium ; si on l'applique à nos exemplaires l'arrangement de leurs épines peut se formuler de la façon suivante : 5-5-3-3-27 (14-13). Le tégument présente une spinulation antérieure qui s'étend dorsalement jus qu'au niveau de la bifurcation caecale et ventralement jusqu'au niveau du deuxième tiers de l 'acétabulum.…”
