Ecdysteroid titre measurements by RIA with this antibody in four fly species, namely Sarcophaga (Neobellieria) bullata, Lucilia caesar, Phormia terraenovae, and Calliphora vicina showed that females have titres ranging from 7-15 ng/mL while in males the values were always below the detection limit of 1 ng/mL (Briers et al, 1983). Injection of 20E into males of all these species as well as Drosophila, induced vitellogenin synthesis (Huybrechts & De Loof, 1977, 1982Bownes et al, 1982).…”
