Abstract

It is a truism to say that societies differ from each other. Degree of variability depends on the degree of their socioeconomic development, traditions, culture ... In the context of the differences between the societies, the main differences are: in the forms of family life, its structure and functions. Although the family is still the basic unit of social life, it is the social position of its members that is changing. Such a change is clearly visible in a social position of the child. The Polish society, as other societies, is the result of several factors: socioeconomic , ideological, cultural, and also, and perhaps above all, the specific circumstances of individual families. For this reason, the situation of the child in a society, and thus in the Polish society, is diverse: positive in a functional family, negative in dysfunctional one, and usually dramatic in a pathological family.
