Dynamic Buffer Management for Raw Material Supply in the Footwear Industry

Abstract: In this paper, the application of inventory buffers is proposed as a management tool for the supply of raw material in the footwear industry. This allows to increase competitiveness and a significant decrease in investment in materials stored in the warehouses. This technique based on the holistic view will achieve the global optimum of the system giving importance to factors that prevent success of companies. In this sense, it is identified that the market demand is the systemś constraint for the development … Show more

“…Leng & Yuxia [25] introduced three inventory control policies based on the DBM and used a simulation approach to compare them to the (s,S,T) policy. Reyes & Alvarez [26] proposed a model to manage the inventory by DBM. They used a technique of colours materials reviewed by DBM.…”

“…The main advantages of CC/BM include its overall integration of activity durations, precedence relations and resource constraints, its explicit protection against stochastic variations under uncertainty by the use of aggregated time buffers and a set of reasonable control guidelines based on buffer monitoring (Trietsch and Baker 2012;Khemakhem and Chtourou 2013;Wang et al 2014;Zhang et al 2015b). Meanwhile, CC/BM has found its way towards practical applications in production systems in the manufacturing and service industries (Umble and Umble 2006;Kuo et al 2009;Reyes et al 2016).…”
