Dynamic analysis of double-helical gear system considering effect of oil film among meshing teeth

Abstract: The oil film among meshing teeth is just like a spring-damping element, and it can dominate the friction and meshing characteristics of the gear pair and influence its dynamic performances further. Thus, this article focuses on a double-helical gear system and makes efforts to consider the effect of the oil film among meshing teeth more deeply, which can enhance the precision of dynamic analysis for the gear system. First, based on the elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication theory and “microtomy” method, the models o… Show more

“…To verify the accuracy of numerical method, the calculation results obtained from the research method are compared with the Reference 26, 27. By the comparison with the Reference 26, we have proved the correctness of lubrication characteristics calculation of four‐recess journal bearing. In order to further verify the correctness of the method considering the journal tilt, the relevant parameters of the computational model are given as in Table 1.…”

“…Hua and Chen [17] developed a finite element dynamics model of the bevel gear transmission system considering bearing elasticity and analyzed the effect of bearing elasticity on the vibration characteristics of the system. Yin et al [18] researched the influence of oil film among meshing teeth on vibration characteristics of the herringbone gear transmission system. Li et al [19] conducted a global dynamics analysis of a mechanical model with three nonsmooth factors, namely, elastic impact, rigid impact, and dry friction, and comprehensively discussed the effects of different nonsmooth factors on the system motions distribution and transition.…”

“…Meng et al 13 established a dynamic gear model considering fault characteristics analysis of gear based on time-varying mesh stiffness to approximate gear failures. Nonlinear oil-film force and stiffness are added into gear dynamic equations by researchers to improve simulating accuracy 14,15 ; similarly, coupling effects between surface wear and dynamics of gear systems were also studied. 16,17 Huangfu et al 18 considered the thin rim structure and gear tooth modifications and built a three-dimensional dynamic model and wear prediction model.…”
