Abstract: In this article, a novel design of a compact planar Ultra Wideband (UWB) monopole antenna with dual band notched characteristics has been presented. The antenna has a unique structure meeting UWB standards. The proposed antenna is fed through a 50 normalΩ micro strip feed line, whereas a better impedance is achieved by truncating the ground plane. The dual notches are achieved by incorporating a meandered slot on the radiator patch and U‐slot in the feed line. The antenna is fabricated on FR‐ 4 substrate havi… Show more

“…Figure shows the configuration of the UWB dual‐polarized antenna with single band‐notch. To produce notch frequency, the conventional method focuses on cutting slot of various shapes in the radiating patch, ground plane, or feed‐line . This method is applied in our design and here, a set of four curved slots are inserted into the four radiating arms.…”

“…The band-notched characteristics in UWB antennas are obtained by using various techniques such as slots in the feed line, ground, or radiator [10,11]. Till now researchers have applied various techniques to obtain single [12][13][14][15][16][17], dual [18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25], and triple [26][27][28] band-notching of narrowband channels operating within the UWB spectrum. In [12] a 50 × 42 mm 2 UWB antenna has been designed to suppress or notch the WiMAX frequency band (3.3-3.8 GHz) by using electromagnetic bandgap structures.…”

“…The pin diodes need additional resources (lines and dc-supply) to operate it in the reverse/forward bias mode. The WLAN and WiMAX frequency bands have been notched by using the techniques mentioned in [18][19][20][21][22][23][24]. In [18] the authors have designed a 38.…”

“…With the rapid growth of ultra‐wideband (UWB) communication systems, UWB antenna designing with good performances on UWB impedance matching, compact appearance, low profile, and cheap manufacturing has been the focus of academia and industry communities of telecommunications . Among these designs, planar wide‐slot antennas are good candidates to realize wideband property, miniaturization and low profile.…”
