Abstract: In Brazil, the beef cattle are widely raised in pasture post weaning, but the supplementation has been studied only in individual phases of the animal's growth curve. Therefore, the objective of this study was evaluated the nutritional interrelationship between the growing and finishing phases in the performance of Nellore bulls. Eighty-four weaned calves (body weight [BW] = 205 ± 4.7 kg; 8 months) raised on pasture during the growing phase (dry season, summer and autumn) and finished in feedlot were used. The… Show more

“…In pasture systems, different gain rates can be obtained with supplementation (Roth et al., ; Sampaio et al., ) or by altering the grazing height, which is a management method used under tropical pastures (Barbero et al., ; Da Silva et al., ). Furthermore, this method affects forage mass (Barbero et al., ), a variable important for the prediction of beef grazing production; it affects forage intake and thus animal gain rate (Barbero et al., ; Da Silva et al., ).…”

“…Brito et al (2014) also reported heavier carcasses and higher conformation scores with a diet that allowed greater ADG for steers slaughtered at similar live weights. Furthermore, no difference in carcass weights and conformation scores were observed by Roth et al (2017) for steers managed at pasture with supplementation that allowed various ADG levels.…”
