Does sugammadex suppress allergic inflammation due to rocuronium in animal model of rat?

Abstract: Introduction and Objectives: There are a few reports in the literature about the successful use of sugammadex in the treatment of hypersensitivity reactions caused by rocuronium; however, the pathophysiological mechanism is still unknown. This study aims to investigate the changes caused by rocuronium in the lung and the effect of sugammadex on these changes with bio-chemical, light microscopic and immunohistochemical parameters on a rat model.Materials and Methods: For the study, 28-male Sprague-Dawley rats w… Show more

“…Furthermore, as stated earlier, peripheral parameters affect the regulation of neuroinflammation. SG has been reported to affect peripheral parameters, such as coagulation reduction ( Kang J. H. et al, 2020 ; Kang W. S. et al, 2020 ), return of neuromuscular signals ( Biricik et al, 2019 ), and peripheral inflammation ( Yeşiltaş et al, 2021 ). Moreover, plasma inflammatory and neuronal injury markers have been reported by surgery and anesthesia procedures ( Subramaniyan and Terrando, 2019 ).…”

“…Various animal studies have attempted to define the effect of sugammadex on the inflammatory and immunologic reactions in rocuronium‐induced allergic reactions. Using biochemical, light microscopy, and immunohistochemical parameters, Yesilitas et al 28 investigated the impact of sugammadex on changes caused by rocuronium in the lungs of Sprague–Dawley rats. The rats were evenly divided into 4 study cohorts with the control group (C) receiving saline, group 2 receiving rocuronium (R), group 3 receiving sugammadex (S), and group 4 receiving both rocuronium and sugammadex (RS).…”

“…The experimental procedures of the present study were approved by the Adıyaman University, Animal Experiments Local Ethics Committee with the report of ADYU-HADYEK 2019/032. In our study, 32 adult Sprague -Dawley male rats weighing 300-350 g were used (20,21). The rats were monitored daily under favorable conditions (Room temperature: 22-25 °C and humidity: 50-55%) with standard pellet diet and water ad libitum.…”
