This study aimed to evaluate the association between psychological demands and control on work and the occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders among nursing workers. This cross-sectional study involved 491 nursing workers from a University hospital in Rio Grande do Sul. Brazilian versions of the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire and the Job Content Questionnaire were used. Among the participants, 96.3% reported some pain in any given part of the body last year, 73.1% in the last seven days and 65.8% reported difficulty in their daily routine. The chances of shoulder pain (OR=1.97; CI95%=1.07-3.64), in the thoracic spine (OR=1.83; CI95%=1.02-3.35) and in the ankles (OR=2.05; CI95%=1.05-4.02) were higher in the high work demand quadrant when compared to the low demand quadrant, after adjustments for potentially confusing factors Intervention measures in the organizational structure are needed, redefining demand levels and control at work. The hospital environment can cause stress and physical problems among these workers, as work demands arise in this place, in which professionals experience different degrees of control over the activities they perform (1) .Among occupational illnesses, musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) are an important public health problem and one of the most severe conditions in occupational health (5) . The main risk factors include: work organization, environmental factors and possible overload on body segments when making certain movements, for example: excessive force to perform some tasks, repetitiveness and inadequate postures (6) .To understand these disorders, besides ergonomics issues, the psychosocial dimensions of the labor context are being analyzed, mainly in Europe, based on a model proposed at the end of the 1970's (3,(7)(8) . That is the twodimensional Demand-Control Model -DCM. This study identified the prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders among casual dockworkers. This is a retrospective and quantitative study, the data sources of which included the medical files of dockworkers from 2000 to 2009. Data were collected in a medical service for dockworkers using a previously developed form; descriptive quantitative analysis was performed. Ethical aspects were complied with. A total of 15.8% of the diagnoses identified among male workers referred to musculoskeletal disorders. Individuals older than 52 years of age and with more than 21 years working in the field predominated. The most frequent musculoskeletal diseases included low back pain (38.8%), tendinitis (19.7%), and neck pain (12.5%). These diseases can be prevented through health interventions, confirming the importance of developing clinical support in nursing in order to improve the quality of life of dockworkers. Prevalecía de enfermedades musculoesqueléticos entre trabajadores portuarios apulsosEste estudio tuvo como objetivo identificar la prevalecía de enfermedades osteomusculares Se procedió en el análisis cuantitativo descriptivo de los datos. Los aspectos éticos fueran respetados. Se identificó 15,8% diagnósticos de enfermedades osteomusculares, entre trabajadores del sexo masculino. Predominaran individuos con más de 52 años de edad y con tiempo de actuación laboral superior a 21 años. Las principales enfermedades fueran de lumbalgia (38,8%), tendinitis (19,7%) y cervicalgía (12,5%). Las enfermedades osteomusculares mas prevalentes fueran las lumbalgías, tendinitis y cervicalgías, las cuales pueden prevenirse por medio de acciones interventoras y evaluativas en salud, ratificando la importancia de construir subsidios clínicos en enfermería que colaboren para la cualidad de vida del trabajador portuario.Descriptores: Enfermería en Salud Pública; Salud Laboral; Trastornos de Traumas Acumulados.

RESUMO:O objetivo deste trabalho é identificar apoios sociais, redes e papéis em famílias de docentes de enfermagem, utilizando a fundamentação teórica sobre promoção de saúde em enfermagem familiar. O cenário deste estudo constituiu-se de um Curso de Graduação em Enfermagem de uma Universidade do Brasil. Selecionaram-se como sujeitos deste estudo três famílias de enfermeiras docentes responsáveis por disciplinas do ciclo profissionalizante. A entrevista em profundidade, o genograma e o ecomapa foram usados para a coleta de dados, que foram categorizados pela análise de conteúdo, optando-se pelo tipo temático. Nas três famílias estudadas, os familiares e a família ampliada constituíram-se na principal fonte de apoio. Outras pessoas importantes foram funcionárias, sem laços de consangüinidade, as redes de apoio compostas pela escola, trabalho, igreja e locais de lazer. A identificação de papéis e apoios permitiu aos familiares fortalecerem os mecanismos de enfrentamento para lidar com os fatores estressantes cotidianos e atuarem na promoção da saúde. ABSTRACT:This study aims to identify social support, networks, and roles in families of nursing faculty members, using the theoretical framework of health promotion in family nursing. The scenario of the study was an Undergraduate Nursing Course at a University in the interior of Brazil. Three families of nursing professors responsible for subjects in the professionalization cycle were selected as study subjects. In-depth interviews, the genogram, and ecomaps were used for data collection. Data was categorized by thematic content analysis. In the three families under study, relatives and the expanded family constituted the main source of support. Other important persons were female employees without blood relations. The social support network included the school, work, church, and leisure sites. The identification of roles and supports allowed the relatives to strengthen coping mechanisms in order to deal with the daily stress factors, as well as to act in health promotion. RESUMEN:La finalidad de este trabajo es identificar apoyos sociales, redes y roles en las familias de docentes de enfermería, utilizando para ello, la fundamentación teórica sobre promoción de salud en enfermería familiar. El escenario de este estudio fue un Curso de Pregrado en Enfermería de una Universidad del interior de Brasil. Como sujetos de este estudio fueron seleccionadas tres familias de enfermeras docentes, responsables por disciplinas del ciclo profesionalizante. Para la recolección de los datos se utilizó la entrevista en profundidad, el genograma y el ecomapa. Los datos fueron catalogados mediante el análisis de contenido, eligiéndose el tipo temático. En las tres familias estudiadas, los familiares y la familia ampliada se constituyeron en la principal fuente de apoyo. Fueron consideradas como importantes las funcionarias, sin lazos de consanguinidad; las redes de apoyo, compuestas por la escuela, el trabajo, la iglesia y sitios de ocio.
