Abstract: We described two cases of shunt-related distal internal carotid artery (ICA) dissection from high cervical ICA stenosis. These cases suggest that for high cervical internal carotid endarterectomy, surgeons should reconsider using a carotid shunt to reduce the risk of ICA dissection.
