A Study to Analyze the Tentorial Incisura in Indian Population, for Racial Differences and Its Impact in the Outcome of Patients with Head Injury

“…Experimentally, the group of signs and symptoms associated with herniation were reproduced in the monkey 11 and pathologically examined by Scheinker, 10 Munro and Sisson, 12 and Schwarz and Rosner. 13 Neuropathologic sequelae of tentorial herniation were found and demonstrated grooving and contralateral displacement of the brainstem, medial shift and herniation of the hippocampal gyrus, compression of the third cranial nerves, and brainstem hemorrhages. In 1958, Sunderland 14 classified tentorial notches as broad or narrow, and Corsellis 15 suggested that the patterns of herniation should be affected by notch size and shape.…”
