Abstract: Design, resistance, design load, assembly and user manuals of trusses fabricated with Gmelina arborea and Hieronyma alchorneoides wood from forest plantations trees in Costa Rica Two pratt-type trusses were constructed using Gmelina arborea (melina) and Hieronyma alchorneoides (pilón), designed with spans of 6 m and 9 m between bearings and using two types of joints: nails and screws. “…Timber used came from trees of Gmelina arborea and Tectona grandis from forest plantations in Costa Rica. The first species was selected for its high rate of reforestation in this country (INEC, 2014) and because G. melina timber is employed for many uses, for example the potential for structural use (Vallejos et al, 2015;Moya and Tenorio, 2017;Moya et al, 2013;Tenorio et al, 2017).
