Dinámica de oviposición de Aedes (Stegomyia) aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae), estado gonadotróficoy coexistencia con otros culícidos en el área Metropolitana de Bucaramanga, Colombia

Abstract: Introduction: Tropical urban areas favor the presence of Aedes aegypti in the American continent. Other mosquitoes can share the same geographic distribution with this mosquito, which justifies that they must be monitored. Objective: It is to know the dynamics of oviposition of A. aegypti, evaluate its gonadotrophic state and determine taxonomically the presence of other culicidae in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga. Methodology: Oviposition traps (N = 960) were baited with hay infusion (10%) for one year … Show more

“…Bucaramanga is surrounded by vegetation and is characterized by an average annual temperature of 24 • C, high humidity levels, several gullies in its proximity or even in the central areas that accumulate water during the rainy season, and the presence of two rivers (River Oro and River Surata in the areas of Girón and Bucaramanga, respectively). In addition, there are vector species described in the both area, such as Aedes aegypti, and other species that could be involved in disease transmission (10,25). These conditions could promote breeding of these mosquitoes and disease transmission in Bucaramanga.…”

These conditions could promote breeding of these mosquitoes and disease transmission in said areas.…”
