“…Por otra parte, nuestro estudio no encontró similitud con el trabajo de Bal et al (10), en Turquía, quienes obtuvieron que la media de asimetría de la rama era 2,90 % ± 2,58 %; observaron, asimismo, diferencias significativas entre las proporciones de altura de la rama derecha e izquierda (p < 0,01); y obtuvieron una alta prevalencia (10,8 %) de asimetría de la rama, y discrepancia con la edad y el sexo de los pacientes. Mientras tanto nuestra investigación coincide con Kasimoglu et al (12), también de Turquía, quienes obtuvieron como resultado valores de prevalencia de asimetría condilar que oscilan entre 3,50 % y 9,49 %, la diferencia estadística suele estar asociada a las diferentes étnicas o culturas (8). De igual manera, Sofyanti et al (5) encontraron que, del total de pacientes analizados, el 17,7 % (n = 12) presentaba simetría de altura condilar y síntomas de trastornos temporomandibulares (TTM) y el 38,2 % (n = 26) tenía asimetría y también síntomas de TTM; por otro lado, el 39,7 % (n = 27) presentó simetría de altura condilar sin síntomas de TTM y el 4,4 % (n = 3) tenía asimetría sin síntomas de TTM.…”
