Dichalcogenide Bonding in Seven Alkali-Metal Actinide Chalcogenides of the KTh2Se6 Structure Type. -CsTh2Se6 and the six compounds shown in the scheme are characterized by single crystal XRD and electrical conductivity measurements. All the compounds crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Immm with Z = 2 (KTh2Se6-type structure). Evidence of long-range order and modulation exist in the XRD patterns of (VII) and (XV). All seven compounds show Q-Q interactions (Q: S, Se) and, depending on the radius ratio RAn/RA (An: Th, U, Np; A: Cs, K, Rb, Tl), disorder of the A cation over two sites. The compounds contain tetravalent Th or U, but the formal oxidation state of Np in the modulated structure of (XV) is less certain. -(BUGARIS, D. E.; WELLS, D.
