“…The behavior of plasma pressure during the 1 June 2013 geomagnetic storm can be analyzed in terms of the development of the RC under the condition of magnetostatic equilibrium. Tverskaia (1986) experimentally established that the position of the maximum of electron injections during a geomagnetic storm (L max ) is related to the minimum in the D st variation as |D st,min | = cL −4 max , with c = 2.75 · 10 4 . This relation was then explained in the theoretical works developed by Tverskoy (1997) and Antonova (2006).…”

“…The Tverskaya ( 1986 ) relation has been validated by many researches for magnetic storms with well-defined main and recovery phases (see Tverskaya 2011 ; Kuznetsov et al 2002 ; Slivka et al 2006 ; Moya et al 2017 and references therein). Recently, Antonova and Stepanova ( 2015 ) proved this relation for the October 2012 magnetic storm, an event in which the position of the ORB maximum (maximum of the phase space density of relativistic electrons after the storm) was clearly determined by Reeves et al ( 2013 ).…”

“…One of such long-standing problems in magnetospheric physics is the acceleration of relativistic electrons in the outer radiation belt (ORB). Acceleration of electrons during magnetic storms is well established (see Reeves 1998 ; Tverskaya 2011 and multiple other works). However, strong substorm activity without storms can also lead to relativistic electron enhancements (Kim et al 2015 ; Hajra et al 2015 ; Pinto et al 2018 ).…”

“…It has been shown in early studies that the penetration distance of electrons (with energies 1 MeV-15 MeV) into the slot region has a correlation with the daily minimum value of Dst (Tverskaya, 2011). Recent extensive statistical study of the variability of radiations belts associated with the geomagnetic activity during Van Allen Probes mission period has been presented in Turner et al (2019).…”
