“…The activator used in commercial PC activity assays is derived from the Southern copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix) and is known as Protac. 16 Activated PC cleaves and inactivates factors Va and VIIIa, which results in clotting time prolongation in the second assay stage. Clot-based PC activity assay may be based on activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT), prothrombin time, or Russell viper venom time.…”

“…Инкубация протеина С с активатором из Agk. contortrix contortrix приводит в результате ограниченного протеолиза к превращению протеина С в его активную форму -активированный протеин С, который расщепляет специфический хромогенный пептидный субстрат pGlu-Pro-Arg-pNА (S-2366) с высвобождением свободного pNA, концентрация которого прямо пропорциональна концентрации протеина С в образце [4].…”

“…At present, proteolytic enzymes obtained from the venom of South American copperhead Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix are used for determination of protein C content in blood plasma and the diagnostic preparation Protac ® (Pentapharm, Switzerland) has been developed on this basis [3]. Protein C incubation with an activator from A. contortrix contortrix results in limited proteolysis and conversion of protein C into its active form, activated protein C, which cleaves the specific chromogenic peptide substrate pGlu-Pro-Arg-pNA (S-2366) with release of free pNA (p-nitroaniline) and the pNA concentration is directly proportional to the concentration of protein C in an analyzed sample [4].…”
