Diagnostic and Prognostic Value of Procalcitonin and C-Reactive Protein in Malnourished Children

Abstract: WHAT'S KNOWN ON THIS SUBJECT: Biomarkers such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin are elevated in children with severe bacterial infections. Children with severe malnutrition are at increased risk of bacterial infections and early markers for the diagnosis of infection in these children are needed.
