Development of the Landslide Susceptibility Map of Attica Region, Greece, Based on the Method of Rock Engineering System

Abstract: The triggering of slope failures can cause a significant impact on human settlements and infrastructure in cities, coasts, islands and mountains. Therefore, a reliable evaluation of the landslide hazard would help mitigate the effects of such landslides and decrease the relevant risk. The goal of this paper is to develop, for the first time on a regional scale (1:100,000), a landslide susceptibility map for the entire area of the Attica region in Greece. In order to achieve this, a database of slope failures t… Show more

“…Many scientific research studies employ multi-criteria decision analysis methods (MCDA) [2][3][4] to identify the most susceptible subregions within an area due to their efficiency and rapid applicability [5]. In these studies, the availability of a comprehensive landslides inventory is essential as it can be used either during the application of the method Environ.…”

“…The key feature of this study is the chosen research methodology. The RES approach, as a multipurpose method, not only examines the influence of one parameter on others (as a cause) but also considers the effects of other parameters on the first parameter (as an effect) (Tavoularis et al., 2021). This cause‐and‐effect interaction in the RES approach allows for a detailed investigation of all factors affecting landslide occurrence in Tehran Province.…”
