Intelligent Poultry Feeding System is the future development trend of agriculture. This is the production model of big data platform through technological innovation such as internet of things, artificial intelligence, etc. In recent years, Taiwan has proposed the Agricultural 4.0 program to combine renewable energy with technological innovation to promote the development of agriculture. Building a complete intelligent poultry house including solar power generation and Intelligent Poultry Feeding System, the purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of this policy and analyze the economic effects and environmental protection of Solar Energy-Intelligent Poultry Feeding System (SE-IPFS). The research methodology uses the net present value for financial evaluation and the Dynamic Environmental I-O Model for energy. The results of this paper show that the investment of SE-IPFS can recover the investment cost within a reasonable period of time, and effectively improve the CO 2 emission effect, achieving the dual tasks of industrial development and environmental protection.

The present study considered the current state of internet of things in Nigeria, future prospects and challenges to the usage of the technology in Nigerian Agriculture. In Nigeria, IoT has been used to dispense feed and water to chicks, virtual fences for monitoring farmlands and forest trees, cashless sales and purchases of farm produce and input, monitoring and management of staff performances on the farm and e-wallet for input, loan and information accessibility on agricultural issues. However, there is room for improvement in the area of security for the animals (animal tracking), weather forecasting and realtime soil monitoring, livestock and crop health surveillance. Challenges faced in the usage of IoT in Nigeria are inadequate/lack of capital, skilled manpower, facilities. In conclusion, IoT has great potentials to move Nigerian agriculture to an enviable position.

The huge cost and high labor demand associated with the current deep litter system of poultry farming poses a great challenge to poultry farming. These drawbacks which currently threatens this system of farming, have been attributed to the over-involvement of humans in almost all aspects of operation of this farming system. The consequences are increased disease outbreak, weakness and poor bird feeding. To ameliorated some of these challenges, an automated poultry feeding system is developed and presented in this paper. The proposed system mimics the roles of real-life poultry attendants in delivery of feed and water to birds at specified interval of time. The system senses the level of feed and water in the respective trough and intelligently dispense water and feed in response to the sensed levels. The current system is able to effectively sense and predict the level of feed and water in the farm at an accuracy of 98.79% and dispense same within a response time of 50-60ms.
