Development of HLA-DDS wrapper API for network-controllable distributed simulation

Abstract: these days, distributed simulation system domain is growing increasingly in terms of data size and number of data transmission. Therefore, network control mechanism for data transmission in distributed system is required. For this, we replace transport layer of HLA-based distributed simulation system using Data Distribution Service (DDS) communication. In this paper, we pursue the network-controllable distributed simulation using DDS. We suggest HLA-DDS wrapper API which combines HLA APIs and DDS APIs and wrap… Show more

“…In the transport layer replacement model, DDS is employed in the transport layer, and HLA is used in an upper layer. 36,37 In other words, DDS becomes the wire protocol of the HLA-based system. Thus, the broad range of QoS capabilities of DDS can be used while preserving HLA's inter-simulation high-level architectural properties.…”

“…The authors in [19] propose a Gateway/Middleware High Level Architecture (HLA) implementation and the extra services that this implementation provides to a simulation. That paper contributes to incorporate Gateway/Middleware Services into HLA interface that is denoted, a Simulation Object Middleware Classes (SMOC) Gateway.…”
