Development of digitalised maintenance – a concept

Abstract: PurposeThis paper presents a concept for digitalised maintenance (DM), maps the conceptualised DM to maintenance problems in industries and highlights challenges that might be faced when realizing this concept.Design/methodology/approachFirst, maintenance problems that are faced by the industry are presented, followed by a conceptualisation of DM. Next, a typical operational scenario is used as an exemplification to show system dynamics. The characteristics of this conceptualised DM are then mapped to the iden… Show more

“…The study suggests how IoT sensors, IoT cloud, and business process management notation can benefit remote and rural areas (Richardson et al, 2022). Hatem Algabroun et al developed a concept for digital maintenance through 4IR technologies (Algabroun et al, 2022). Acernese et al describe a model for developing a condition-based maintenance strategy through the adaption of empirical and machine learning-based models for comparison purposes (Acernese et al, 2021).…”

“…A digitalized maintenance system helps reduce the risk of failure. It minimizes the consequences of unpredicted breakdown by detecting and analyzing abnormalities, identifying the causes, and establishing the required maintenance action ( 114 ). If no anomaly is detected, it predicts future occurrences, determines the risk, and then selects a maintenance plan that supports organizational goals ( 114 ).…”
