Development of Booklet Based Science Learning Media for Junior High School

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya minat belajar siswa terhadap pelajaran IPA khususnya materi Biologi kelas VII yang beranggapan bahwa materi Biologi identik dengan banyak tulisan di buku dan mengandung banyak hafalan, Pendidik belum memanfaatkan fasilitas sekolah untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran serta bahan ajar yang minim hanya berupa LKS menyebabkan siswa tidak tertarik untuk belajar IPA. Sekolah tersebut merupakan sekolah berbasis pesantren, di mana siswa hanya mendapatkan informasi dari LKS dan materi yang disampaikan oleh guru saja. Salah satu media pembelajaran yang menarik yaitu media pembelajaran IPA berbasis booklet. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui validitas media booklet dan respon siswa terhadap media bookle. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development yang mengacu pada model pengembangan 4D (Define, Design, Development, dan Dissemination) dari S.Thiangarajan (1974) yang telah di modifikasi menjadi 3D. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil validasi ahli materi memperoleh persentase 92%; ahli media diperoleh persentase 97,77%; ahli materi oleh guru IPA diperoleh persentase 100%. Uji coba skala kecil diperoleh persentase 91,06% dan uji coba skala besar diperoleh persentase 92,72%. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran IPA berbasis booklet pada materi interaksi makhluk hidup dengan lingkungannya valid digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran IPA Biologi pada kelas VII MTs/SMP.
