Abstract: Abstract The spectrophotometric properties of zinc complexes with murexide in the absence and presence of cationic, anionic and nonionic surfactants were studied. The addition of cationic surfactants stabilized the complex and hence improved the intensity of the absorption band (sensitized the reaction). A method for the determination of >0.01% zinc in aluminum metal and some aluminum base alloys was developed.
