“…What data support the involvement of a cellular PK mechanism? PB is highly lipophilic with an octanolwater partition coeffi cient of 10 2.06 ( Martin-Biosca et al, 2000 ). Furthermore, the apparent permeability constant of methylphenobarbital, a barbiturate with physicochemical features similar to PB, is 0.4 μ M/sec in transmonolayer diffusion experiments in intestinal Caco-2 cells ( Behrens et al, 2001 ).…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…The development of selective and specific methods allowing the determination of PB as a single analyte or together with other drugs and associated metabolites in biological fluids could be of great interest. Most of the developed methods involve highperformance liquid chromatography (HPLC), [4][5][6] gas chromatography (GC), 7,8 gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), 9,10 immunoassay 11,12 and high performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC). 13 Some papers described the simultaneous determination of PB and its PHPB metabolite by using GC 14 and GC/MS.…”

“…The use of special coupled-columns (RAM-columns) [11][12][13] that allow the direct injection of plasma samples has also been proposed. Different analytical procedures that use micellar mobile phases for determining different kind of drugs in biological samples have been reported [16][17][18][19][20][21]. Micellar liquid chromatography (MLC) is an alternative to RP-HPLC that uses aqueous solutions of surfactants above the critical micellar concentration as mobile phases [14].…”
