Abstract: A known principle in which triphenylphosphine is allowed to be oxidized by hydroperoxides to triphenylphosphine oxide, was developed into an analytical method for determination of hydroperoxide content in light mineral oils using GCMSdetection and quantification. By suitable choice of reagent solution solvents and internal standard, the method proved to be simple to apply and very rugged. For a series of oven-aged oil samples the developed method gave results with a satisfactory correlation to an established i… Show more

“…EBOOH is thermally unstable and easily decomposes to PEOH and AP. Thus, before GC analysis, the hydroperoxide was quantitatively reduced to PEOH by addition of triethyl phosphite (EtO) 3 P, which is oxidized to triethyl phosphate (EtO) 3 PO . The amount of PEOH determined by GC was the sum of the alcohol and hydroperoxide formed.…”

[37] The amount of PEOH determined by GC was the sum of the alcohol and hydroperoxide formed. In order to calculate the PEOH selectivity, the amount of EBOOH determined by iodometric analysis was subtracted.…”

“…Given the acid dissociation reaction (2), the equilibrium constant K a is a measure of the acid strength. It is normally expressed as pK a according to (3). ( 4 ) If this mathematics is applied to the titrated values for VA as shown in Tab.…”
