Determination of Hematological Status as Health Indicator of European Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L.) Fed Different Dietary Fatty Acids

Abstract: In this study, the European Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) were fed rich canola oil which is containing monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) and rich cottonseed oil which is containing n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) and the effects of these feeds on some hematological parameters were investigated. Experimental fish were fed two times daily with 100% fish oil (FO-control), 100% cottonseed oil (CSO), 100% canola oil (CO) and 50% CSO - 50% CO (CSO50-CO50) for 162 days. End of the experiment, total erythrocyt… Show more

“…European sea bass diets were researched their possible effects by adding to many vegetable oils, like soybean, cotton seed, palm, rapeseed, linseed, corn, olive, sunflower oils, etc. (Izquierdo et al, 2003;Yildiz and Şener, 2004;Richard et al, 2006;Eroldoğan et al, 2012;Özşahinoğlu et al, 2013;Sahan et al, 2016;Şahan et al, 2017). It can be argued that information is not yet available on the actual potential or limits of the inclusion of peanut oil (PNO) in feed for European sea bass.…”

“…In the fish feed industry, fish oil costs increased due to the decline in fish stocks and rising demand (Izquierdo et al, 2005;Şahan et al, 2017), and this increase in fish oil prices was reflected in feed costs. In fish feeds, it is very important to prepare a balanced ration to meet the needs of fish.…”
