Implementation of cleaner production practices (CPP), service quality (SQ) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) is often studied at organizational level. A number of studies on trio have reported it’s significant impact on overall organizational performance and profitability across the globe. However, not much is studied about the individual level micro influence of these constructs on employee engagement (EE), organizational pride (OP), organizational identification (OI) and “desire to have a significant impact through work” (DSIW). Therefore, this study presents a comprehensive framework for assessing the impact of the implementation of CPP, SQ and CSR on EE, OP, OI and DSIW. Data collected from 320 non-managerial staff members employed at a garments manufacturing company in Pakistan was analyzed using partial least square (PLS) approach. Findings revealed that the implementation of CPP, SQ and CSR plays an important role in shaping EE, OP, OI and DSIW in the garments manufacturing industry. Further, it is found that the implementation of CPP has a non-significant impact on SQ. Additionally, results of the importance-performance map analysis (IPMA) have also confirmed that the implementation of CPP at company level has shown a highest importance and performance amongst all the latent constructs proposed as predictors of DSIW in the garments manufacturing industry. These findings are a step forward and unique contribution of this study in the domain of CPP, SQ, CSR, EE, OP, OI and DSIW.

Long-term dynamic monitoring of the water quality of freshwater resources is of great significance to the stable and orderly operation of human society. Most studies only use one of the measured data from the monitoring station and the remote sensing satellite data as the data source. However, a single data source will cause inaccuracy and incompatibility of the water quality monitoring results. Few studies start from practical applications to generate digital images of water quality changes. Furthermore, the performance of shallow neural networks in water quality monitoring is not often ideal. Considering the above problems, we proposed a long short-term memory network model (LSTM) to invert four key water parameters including pondus hydrogenii (PH), dissolved oxygen (DO), chemical oxygen demand (CODMn) and ammonia-nitrogen (NH3-H). Moreover, the model was applied to the satellite images of various periods to generate the inverted image of each water quality parameter. The proposed model has exhibited excellen t performance in the water quality ass essment of the project, with the coefficient of determination (R 2), the relative root-mean-square error (rRMSE), and the mean relative error (MRE) values of 0.83, 0.16, and 0.18, respectively. Reduction of the environmental footprint of thermo‐alkali pretreatment by reusing black liquor during anaerobic digestion of lignocellulosic biomasses

In this study, the effect of thermo‐alkaline pretreatment and recycling of the liquid fraction (black liquor) for successive pretreatment steps on chemical composition and methane yields from horse manure was investigated. At first, horse manure was subjected to alkaline pretreatment at 70 °C for 1 h (8.6 g NaOH/100 g total solids). Pretreated biomass was then separated into solid and liquid fractions (black liquor). In the subsequent stages, black liquor was mixed with 20% (v/v) of fresh NaOH and was reused to pretreat subsequent batches of horse manure (cycles 1–4). Chemical analyses showed that thermo‐alkaline pretreatment was effective in the delignification and solubilization of organic matter and thereby increased the holocellulose (cellulose and hemicelluloses) content in the solid fraction of horse manure. On comparison with untreated horse manure methane yields (225 ± 1 L CH4 kg−1 VSadded), thermo‐alkaline pretreatment improved the methane yields of horse manure by 39% (313 ± 16 L CH4 kg−1 VSadded). However, the effectiveness of black liquor recycling on methane production decreased (from 39 to 12%) with an increase in the number of recycling steps (from 1 to 4). Nevertheless, recycling of black liquor reduced the consumption of NaOH (40%) and water use (60%). Thus, thermo‐alkaline pretreatment with liquor recycling was found to be an effective pretreatment with an economic gain of 2.4 to 10.4 compared to pretreatment without recycling. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry and John Wiley & Sons, Ltd
