Design of Novel Ytterbium Molybdate Nanoflakes Anchored Carbon Nanofibers: Challenging Sustainable Catalyst for the Detection and Degradation of Assassination Weapon (Paraoxon-Ethyl)

Abstract: Design of resourceful and sustainable catalyst for the trace level identification as well as detoxification of toxic pollutants into the environment is a major concern to researchers. In view of that, we developed novel flakelike ytterbium molybdate (YbMoO 4 ; YbM) anchored on carbon nanofibers (YbM/f-CNFs) nanocomposite via simple wet-chemical route followed by a sonication process. The physicochemical properties of as-prepared YbM/f-CNFs were carried out by several spectroscopic techniques. The YbM/f-CNFs na… Show more

“…7(a) that the modied electrodes of TiO 2 NPs/ GCE and La 3+ doped TiO 2 NPs/GCE show very low capacitance, which suggests that there is not that much corresponding increase in capacitance when La 3+ is introduced into the TiO 2 NPs at a scan rate of 50 mV s À1 . In particular, the 6 Fig. 7(b) shows the experimental CV results of PE reduction and redox reaction at the La 3+ doped TiO 2 NP decorated f-MWCNT modied GCE recorded at a scan rate of 50 mV s À1 , which is summarized as a detailed mechanistic overview in Scheme 4.…”

“…[3][4][5] Therefore, the U.S Environment Protection Agency (EPA) stated that PE is an extremely toxic substance for both animals and human beings. 6 Environmentally friendly and efficient technologies for the detection of pesticides are highly desired. Nowadays, there are many possible conventional techniques for the detection of pesticides in contaminated water, such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and HPLC-MS/MS, [7][8][9] gas chromatography and ultra-violet spectrophotometry, 10,11 and highperformance capillary zone electrophoresis.…”

“…It is thus essential to develop efficient and sustainable procedures for a correct and safe destruction or abatement of CWAs [10, 11] . At the same time, a timely detection of highly toxic agents can promptly reveal the presence (or the absence) of immediate health risks to operators who have to deal with these extremely hazardous materials [12–15] . Designing and obtaining materials with a combined detection/decontamination capability would be a remarkable added value.…”

“…Likewise, supramolecular diamide organogels showed sensing and decontamination properties, but stoichiometric amounts of tetrabutylammonium 4‐benzaldoximate, as a reactive decontaminant, were necessary to carry out the detoxification of the organophosphorus compound [13] . Carbon‐supported ytterbium molybdate nanoflakes need a light source to complete the photocatalytic abatement of the nerve CWA simulant [15] …”
