Design and Simulation of a Flow Mobility Scheme Based on Proxy Mobile IPv6

Abstract: Abstract-Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) is a network-based mobility support protocol and it does not require Mobile Nodes (MNs) to be involved in the mobility support signaling. In the case when multiple interfaces are active in an MN simultaneously, each data flow can be dynamically allocated to and redirected between different access networks to adapt to the dynamically changing network status and to balance the workload. Such a flow redistribution control is called "flow mobility". In the existing PMIPv6-based … Show more

“…This paper considers two important methods, which are predictive type of Context Transfer (CT) [12][13] and Multicast only Fast Reroute (MFR) [14]. These two considerations are very important since it can improve the performance in proxy mobile multicast environment especially in a very dense mobile multicast traffic.…”

“…Multicast Fast Reroute [14] defines a tool for reducing packet loss in a network when link or node disasters occur. MFR defines two paths, a main path and a backup path.…”

“…It verified that the proposed architecture satisfied the flow mobility standards of PMIPv6. Work in [19] improved flow mobility support using the NS3 network simulator. By using these NS3 functions, it applied the multi-interfaced for the host and the mobility process in the recommended design.…”
