Design and Implementation of a Test-Bench for Efficiency Measurement of Domestic Induction Heating Appliances

Abstract: Abstract:The operation of a domestic induction cooktop is based on the wireless energy transfer from the inductor to the pot. In such systems, the induction efficiency is defined as the ratio between the power delivered to the pot and the consumed power from the supplying converter. The non-transferred power is dissipated in the inductor, raising its temperature. Most efficiency-measuring methods are based on measuring the effective power (pot) and the total power (converter output). While the converter output… Show more

“…Figure 7b shows that the load power of this system increases at first and decreases subsequently as the axial distance or lateral displacement between two coils increases. In Equations (9) and (10), there is only one variable M. As the axial distance or lateral displacement increase, M decreases and the value of (R 1 + R 0 )(R 2 + R L )/(ω 2 M 2 ) increases, and then transfer efficiency η decreases. In the expression of…”

“…In the current scheme, whether it is wireless, laser, or conductive slip ring technology, supply power inevitably needs to be provided to the rotor by battery, conductive slip ring, electromagnetic coupling, etc. With the continuous development of wireless power supply technology, long-distance and high-power radio wireless power supply technology has been greatly improved, and wireless power transfer (WPT) technology is very promising [7][8][9][10][11][12].…”

“…According to (1) and (5), the inductances of the primary and frustum coils are fully compensated by their capacitances. Thus, the impedances Z p and Z f can be regarded as the pure resistances R p and R f , respectively:…”

“…These drawbacks stimulate researchers to develop a fresh heating approach. In the past decades, induction heating based on magnetic coupling has been advocated highly and developed rapidly because of the definite advantages of cleanness, safety and high efficiency [1]. In order to expedite the development of induction heating, a considerable number of researchers have explored this technology and obtained abundant achievements [2].…”

“…The Chinese government is vigorously promoting energy saving, emission reduction and low-carbon economy, in such context, optimizing the heating metering method and reforming the heat charge strategies are of very important and practical significance [1][2][3]. The developed European and American countries generally have sound heating systems and hot water charging standards built based on heat consumption [4][5][6]. In China, after going through a few stages of initial exploration, technology upgrade, pilot demonstration, international cooperation, and gradual promotion, the adopted heating metering and charging management strategies have achieved obvious energy-saving effect, the heat sharing has certain social fairness, but for the related techniques and standards, there're still much room for improvement [7][8][9][10].…”
