Design and Fabrication of hand operated mini Shock Tube

Abstract: Abstract. Shock waves have been used for medical, biological and industrial applications. In this paper design, frication and calibration of a low cost mini shock tube is presented. Commercial FEM software COMSOL multiphysics is used for analysis of shock tube flows. The hand operated mini shock tube is capable of generating shock Mach numbers up to 1.8, peak over pressures up to 8 bar. Experimental and theoretical values of pressure ratio jump primary and reflected shock closely agree with each other. The fab… Show more

“…Shock tubes can also be used as a tool to direct the blast waves and to know about the exploitation materials and about the flying debris. High speed flow in the shock tube has been observed by Wegener and Lundquits, use of air familiar humidity in electronica detect and highthe pressure was the present of water drop flows up with diaphragm with the limited scatter of light from the droplets (Wegener and Lundquist, 1951;Nambiar et al, 2017).…”

“…A numerical study was also carried out, and the theoretical and experimental values were compared and found to be in close agreement. Maximum velocity that could be attained using that shock tube was 1.8 Mach number (Nambiar et al , 2017).…”
