Objetivo: Analisar a associação entre ensino presencial na graduação e risco de adoecimento por COVID-19 entre alunos de uma universidade, no período de agosto de 2020 a dezembro de 2021. Métodos: Realizou-se um estudo de coorte retrospectivo durante o referido período, com o grupo exposição composto por alunos do 1º ao 9º período de Medicina (presencial) e o grupo controle por alunos do 1º ao 7º período de Direito (remoto) na mesma instituição. Coleta de dados foi feita por meio de questionário online, aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa (CAAE: 63362022.5.0000.8044). O tratamento estatístico incluiu o teste Qui-Quadrado de Pearson (χ²) para variáveis qualitativas. Resultados: A amostra, constituída por 467 indivíduos, registrou 54,6% (255) de casos de COVID-19, sendo 49,6% (146) no curso de Direito (controle) e 63% (109) no curso de Medicina (exposição). A análise revelou risco relativo (RR) de 1,269 (IC 95%: 1,079 – 1,492, p=0,0052) para associação entre exposição ao ensino presencial e adoecimento por COVID-19. A não recepção de nenhuma dose da vacina foi identificada em 3,46% do grupo exposição e 0,36% do grupo controle. Houve uma redução de aproximadamente 55% na adesão à terceira dose de vacina nos grupos. Conclusão: Os resultados indicam associação nula entre ensino presencial e risco de COVID-19 na amostra estudada. Evidencia-se que as medidas de proteção adotadas foram efetivas na mitigação da contaminação e disseminação da doença, reforçando a importância de estratégias preventivas no ambiente acadêmico, destacando o papel crucial das medidas de segurança implementadas durante o período analisado.

Objective: To evaluate the measles epidemiological surveillance system, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic in Pernambuco, Brazil. Methods: This was a descriptive evaluation of the quality (duplicity; completeness; consistency), timeliness and usefulness attributed, classified as excellent ≥ 90.0%, regular ≥ 70.0% and < 90.0%, and poor (< 70.0%). Data from the Notifiable Health Conditions Information System and Laboratory Environment Management System were used, before (03/11/2018-03/10/2020) and during (03/11/2020-03/10/2022) the pandemic. Results: 1,548 suspected measles cases were registered (1,469 before and 79 during the pandemic). In the two periods studied, there were 11 and 1 duplicate records, average completeness in filling out the variables was 99.2% and 95.7%, while average consistency was 96.7% and 97.5%, respectively. Timeliness (receipt of samples, 16.2% and 33.0%. Release of results, 1.3% and 1.3%) and usefulness (43.5% and 24.4%) were poor. Conclusion: Quality was classified as excellent in the periods studied, timeliness and usefulness were classified as poor, signaling non-compliance with the purpose of the system.

Purpose: This article aims to analyze the response of the academic community and the general population of the municipality of Dourados, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, to the demands imposed by public health measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on vaccination strategies. Theoretical framework: The research problematizes the community-vaccine relationship in the context of the beginning of the vaccination process against COVID-19. Method/design/approach: Involved collecting comments on publications related to the topic on social network websites, such as Instagram and Facebook, from the Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD) and the City Hall of Dourados. Results and discussion: 75 publications were selected, totaling 824 comments, and the data were categorized into different types of comments, such as favorable or contrary to the measures to combat COVID-19, doubts, criticism not related to the vaccine, among others. Results reveal the existence of different positions and opinions in relation to vaccination and measures to combat the pandemic, highlighting the polarization and influence of factors such as trust, risk perception and individual freedom. Research implications: No social network analyzes were found in the Dourados region, therefore a pioneering study. Originality value: The study underscores the importance of promoting open dialogue, combating misinformation, and promoting science as a basis for decision-making in public health.
