Furthermore, when one is considering the diagnosis of kwashiorkor, there are a number of associated or underlying factors which the physician should be careful to keep in mind ( Table 2) ( 17, 22, 27, 28, 38). Of these, cystic fibrosis and other diseases of malabsorption have been the most often reported in the literature, but catabolic states as well as psychiatric disease and neurologic disorders, as seen in our patient, should always be considered.…”
