Deployment of Service Oriented architecture in MANET: A research roadmap

Abstract: Service Oriented architecture (SOA) on Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) promotes the effort to deploy the day to day business and other services over the ad hoc mobile environments. In this paper several research challenges have been summarized related to the service publishing, registration indexing, availability, discovery and composition on dynamic environment of MANET. Several general issues related to SOA which may affect the functionality of MANET, also have been raised. Moreover, various security issues re… Show more

“…[1]. Nevertheless, the Local Mobile Cloud approach is typically supported by a Mobile Ad-Hoc NETwork (MANET), which poses new challenges [12] such as battery problems, dynamic topology among others, that must be appropriately addressed to ensure the dependability of the Mobile Cloud. Dependability concepts involve the quality attributes of availability, reliability, safety, and integrity [6], of which availability is particularly susceptible to the dynamicity of the network topology that characterize the mobile networks.…”

“…The context for our work is instead service-based systems deployed on mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) [1], [10], [16], [21]. Mobility and ad hoc networking bring increased dynamicity to service dependencies, beyond those caused by the basic run-time service-binding regime of SOA or Web Services.…”
