Demonstrating interoperability between unmanned ground systems and command and control systems

Abstract: This paper describes the research and experiment efforts of the NATO STO group IST-149-RTG capability concept demonstrator for interoperability within unmanned ground systems and C2 and the NAAG team of experts on UGV. The main purpose of the group was to investigate possible standards for controlling UGVs and tests them in a real world scenario. The efforts have been two folded, where the first effort was two NATO groups having an experiment demonstrating interoperability between the UGVs and OCUs available w… Show more

“…Rather, interoperability is a higher-order quality descriptive of a set of components' potential to produce effects through their interaction. Jeong et al, 18 Pradhan et al, 19 Mathiassen et al, 20 and Kasim et al 21 highlight the importance of interactions in systems where interoperability is a primary design concern. As Law maintains, agent-based modeling is an approach well-suited to assessing system performance when the characteristic of interest is higher-order system behavior.…”
