ResumenEl objetivo del trabajo es relevar la representación de las personas en situación de pobreza en los medios de comunicación argentinos. Se tomó como caso de estudio a las personas que limpian vidrios de autos en las calles, y las representación discursiva que se hace de ellas en el informe "Limpiavidrios ladrones: así nos roban", de América Noticias (08/10/09). La metodología de la investigación es cualitativa (Guba & Lincoln, 1998) y el trabajo se enmarca en el Análisis Crítico del Discurso (Fairclough, 1992;Wodak, 2000;Pardo 2008a). El análisis muestra que los limpiavidrios se han apropiado de las calles, constituyendo un grupo de delincuentes (hipotéticos o reales) peligrosos para los automovilistas, quienes los perciben con temor. Los trabajadores marginales, el enemigo de un nosotros inclusivo, resulta argumentativamente el destinatario de la postulación de medidas represivas que devuelvan a la vía pública su carácter seguro. De esa forma, el medio pasa a desempeñar un rol político, difundiendo y generando una demanda determinada de seguridad en la audiencia-ciudadanía.Palabras clave: Seguridad, vía pública, trabajadores marginales, medios, delincuencia, pobreza, discurso. The aim of this paper is to analyze how Argentinean media deals with poor people. It does this through a case study of people who wash windscreens in the streets of Buenos Aires and how they are represented in the news report "Limpiavidrios ladrones: Así nos roban" ("Windscreen cleaners who thieve: this is how they rob us") broadcasted by the daily news bulletin América Noticias on October 10th of 2009.
