Delayed neutron alignment inI117

Abstract: The rotational alignment of hei/2 neutrons is considerably delayed (Aha-0. 11 MeV) in the nbii/z[550] -, ' intruder band in " I when compared to bands built on normal-parity states. Comparison with cranked shell-model calculations suggests that this effect may indicate a larger quadrupole deformation for the intruder orbital. A strong neutron-proton interaction between the aligning hii/2 neutrons and the hi]12 proton intruder may also play a role. In addition, noncollectible oblate states at

“…4 Fig. 2, the yrast 43/2 and 51/2 states lie unusually low and have previously been interpreted as favored yrast noncollective oblate states [8]. The 43/2 state, which has been systematically observed in the light iodine 2 1 isotopes, is built on the 7r (g7/2d5/2) + (hii/2) / 8 v (g7/2)p+ (d5/2)p+ (/111/2) ip+ configuration in I.…”

“…There is a wealth of experimental information about high-spin states in 115 1271 [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. In those investigations the structure of the collective bands built on the ds/2, g7/2 and h11/2 proton-particle as well as on g9/2 proton- …”
