D-terms and F-terms from D7-brane fluxes

Abstract: Using a Kaluza-Klein reduction of the fermionic part of the D-brane action we compute D- and F-terms of the N=1 effective action for generic Calabi-Yau orientifold compactifications in the presence of a space-time filling D7-brane. We include non-trivial background fluxes for the D7-brane U(1) field strength on the internal four-cycle wrapped by the brane. First the four-dimensional fermionic spectrum arising from the D7-brane is derived and then the D- and F-terms are obtained by computing appropriate couplin… Show more

“…The tree-level Kähler potential coincides with the K tree of the orientifolds given in (2.55), but with a new definition of the chiral Kähler coordinates, which depends on the fact that we are considering D3-or D7-branes [125,126,127,128]. Let us start with D3-branes and then turn to the case of D7-branes.…”

“…In particular, we shall derive the four-dimensional N = 1 effective action for Calabi-Yau orientifolds including background fluxes, D3/D7-branes and O3/O7-planes [125,126,127,128]. Useful review papers extending this discussion are [57,76,129,130,131,132,133,134].…”

“…To determine the correct Kähler coordinates a careful dimensional reduction must be performed of the orientifold model with branes and fluxes. This problem has been studied in great detail by Louis and collaborators [49,50,51,52,53] and we shall simply state their results.…”

“…We will come back to this in section 4.2. It should be possible to obtain a charged matter content in the D3/D7 inflation model which allows for gaugino condensation by considering appropriate fluxes [41,42,43,44]. We will assume this in the following, without considering a concrete model.…”
