“…Surprisingly, the incidence of infections tended to be lower in the ciclosporin group. Eczema herpeticatum as the most frequent infectious disease was not increased in the ciclosporin group [33].…”

“…Although topical tacrolimus is not associated with an increased risk of infections [ 95 ], there have been reports of herpes simplex infection, MC [ 96 ], and extensive varicella zoster infection [ 97 ] so caution should be exercised with its use. Interestingly however, the use of systemic immunosuppressives such as ciclosporin has not been associated with an increased risk of infections in a cohort of Korean AD patients [ 98 ]. Suppressing the Th2 infl ammatory response in AD with corticosteroids [ 99 ] and calcineurin inhibitors is the cornerstone in AD treatment, and theoretically this may decrease the Th2 cytokine milieu-mediated suppression of fi laggrin synthesis and reduce the allergic infl ammation triggered by S. aureus , thereby concomitantly improving the dysfunctional barrier and decreasing bacteria-induced damage.…”

“…Short-term randomized controlled trials showed that even moderate amounts of fructose consumption impaired glucose and lipid metabolism [9] and decreased insulin sensitivity [10], playing a crucial role in the development of metabolic disorders, contributing to atherosclerosis, thus resulting in a higher risk of CHD. Another detrimental effect of fructose reported by epidemiological and intervention study is the increase of uric acid level in serum, which is a risk factor for CHD [11][12].…”
